Features Luftdaten: Air Quality
How clean is the air you’re breathing right now?
Is it safe and healthy to jog now?Air Quality and Pollution is a great way of knowing how the air quality is in an area and concentration values for key pollutants:- particulate matter (PM10)- fine particulate matter (PM2.5)When clicking on a station on the map, a pop-up window appears with additional informationBands of concentrations and index levelsThe bands are based on the relative risks associated to short-term exposure to PM2.5, as defined by the World Health Organization in its report on the Health Risks of Air Pollution in Europe project.
For PM10 concentrations, a constant ratio between PM10 and PM2.5 of 1:2 is assumed, in line with the World Health Organizations air quality guidelines for Europe. The size of particles is directly linked to their potential for causing health problems.
Small particles less than 10 micrometers in diameter pose the greatest problems, because they can get deep into your lungs, and some may even get into your bloodstream.
Exposure to such particles can affect both your lungs and your heart.
People with heart or lung diseases, children, and older adults are the most likely to be affected by particle pollution exposure.Data provided by Luftdaten.info
